The history of Calabasas CA is well-preserved and can be learned easily just by taking a walk on Calabasas Road in the Old Town or by visiting the Leonis Adobe. Built in 1844, this hidden gem is great for kids and adults. The grounds are beautiful and include the main adobe, the Plumer’s house, the water tower, the barn and the gardens. All of the exhibits are very well preserved: the old furniture, kitchen area with cooking utensils, farming tools or the old carriages. The kids can enjoy the multitude of animals and participate in historical activities, like using an old sewing machine or watching a blacksmith making a horseshoe. The whole experience is enhanced by the extremely knowledgeable docents, dressed in authentic clothes, whose stories about old times will help you imagine how life was back in the 1840s. It’s best to visit Saturday morning because after the museum you can enjoy the Farmer’s Market across the street.
